Steps Up Snowdon “ Yr Wyddfa”

The Birch Thompson Memorial Fund is holding a special fund-raiser on 18 May 2024 when a wide age - range of supporters will be stepping up Snowdon.

At present the youngest person will be 12-year-old Ethan Morris, grandson of Trustee Andy Morris: the eldest is founder Trustee of the Charity, Keith Berry who is in his 84th year.  Neither Ethan nor Keith will reach the top but they are asking you to sponsor them for the first 1000 Steps up Snowdon!

There will be however,  a group of trustees and others who aim to reach the top and raise funds for this much-need resource.  The money raised will go towards the laying of an area at the back of Gelliwig with either natural grass or synthetic surface.

The Outdoor play area will commemorate the late Baroness Rachael Heyhoe-Flint who was one of the first Patrons in 1981 and an active supporter throughout her life. This included the provision of beds (some still in use), two minibuses (both still in use) and annual prizes for our Joe Loss Dance.

Rachael was a teacher with John Thompson at the Municipal Grammar School before she entered journalism.
