Llechwedd Slate Caverns

Located near the slate mining town of Blaneau Ffestiniog, Llechwed Slate Caverns is perfect for those looking for a unique educational trip or an adventurous day out.

 

Its main attraction, The Victorian Mine Tour, includes a tour around a slate mine almost 50 years old and hearing stories of the miners family life in these caverns.

 

The Slate Workshop, based in an original quarry building, will let you watch slate splitting and the creation of various products, available to purchase during your visit.

 

There is also the opportunity to try slate splitting yourself, with kids able to paint their own slate coaster too.

For the adventurous types, Llechwed Slate Caverns has attractions for the thrill-seekers out there. You can experience downhill mountain-biking nearby at Antur Stiniog or 4 person zip lining at Zip World Titan.

 

For the kids there is Bounce Below, the world's first subterranean playground within the slate caverns, with trampoline like nets to bounce on.
